Why I Started Ménage: A Curated Kitchenware Brand Born in Australia
The Story Behind Ménage: From My Own Need to a Business
When I first moved to Australia, I realised how hard it was to find the kind of kitchenware I had loved back home — products that weren’t just practical, but also beautifully made, well-balanced, and thoughtfully designed.
In places like Japan or parts of Europe, it’s easy to find everyday items that feel intentional — where beauty and function go hand-in-hand. But here, those sorts of pieces felt few and far between.
Ménage started simply because I wanted to bring those kinds of products into my own home. And then I thought — maybe I’m not the only one looking.
✨ Why Kitchenware?
Because it’s the little things,
the spoon you reach for every morning, the fork that feels just right in your hand that shape our daily rituals.
I believe good design should be quiet, useful, and lasting.
At Ménage, I curate kitchenware that brings a bit of pleasure into the everyday. Items that not only look good, but feel right to use.
🇦🇺 Why I Started This Brand in Australia
Australia is ready for more than mass-produced goods. I saw an opportunity to bring elevated yet accessible kitchenware into the local market — products that blend aesthetic sensibility, cultural depth, and quality manufacturing.
We’re starting with one of my personal favourites:
🥄 Luckywood Cutlery from Japan
Crafted with precision and balance, it’s a brand I fell in love with for how it transforms even a simple meal into something special.
(There is more behind story, I will post next one, stay tuned XD)
What Ménage Stands For
-
“Ménage” means “household” in French — the small moments, the rituals, the heart of a home.
-
We believe in slow living, artisanship, and the quiet luxury of everyday beauty.
-
We don’t follow trends. We curate legacy.
🌿 Looking Ahead
Ménage is for people like me, people who care about what they bring into their homes. People who value things that are made well and made to last.
I hope this space becomes more than just a shop.
I want it to be a little haven for those who believe beauty and practicality can go hand in hand.
Thanks for being here.
